Beja: Diocese celebrates ordination of priest.


The bishop of Beja presided over the priestly ordination of Nuno Oliveira, na catedral local.

In the homily of his priestly ordination, D. João Marcos said that “being a priest is not a profession to earn a livingâ€, but "to lose it, freely offering himself with Christ to the Father.â€.

“It's about dying to ourselves so that others can liveâ€, he added, according to a note sent today to the ECCLESIA Agency.

The new priest entered the Seminary of Our Lady of Fatima, in Beja, in the year of 2014, having attended the Seminars of St.. José de Faro and that of Our Lady of Purification, Evora, where he received his philosophical-theological training.

Ordained a deacon in July 2021 and sent to the Parishes of St.. Martin Amoreiras, Santa Clara-a-Velha, Savoy and Most Holy Savior, in Odemira, where he did his pastoral internship.

Father Nuno Oliveira addressed those present, at the end of the celebration, to thank all those who helped him on his path of vocational discernment.
