Until November, were born in Portugal more 4376 babies than in the same period of 2021. Beja is one of the five districts or autonomous region where these numbers dropped.
There 15 districts that already register more babies than in the same period last year, with four of them even surpassing last year's total number of births.
Beja is in 15th place in the ranking of 18 districts and the two autonomous regions with regard to the birth of babies during the current year. Between January and November, according to a work Journal News (JN), were born in the district 929 babies, against 22.909 of Lisbon and the 532 from Bragança and Portalegre.
In the variation compared to 2001, in the district recorded less 45 births, number surpassed only by the Azores, where there was less 49 babies born. The other districts with a negative balance are Faro with less 17, guard with less 14 and Portalegre with less 1. In Évora they were born during the eleven months of 2022, 981 babies, more 56 than 2021.
Everything indicates that this year will end with a probable increase in the number of births, reversing the downward trend that had been occurring since 2019.

This procedure is performed at birth to screen for various diseases., and, in Portugal, is one of the closest indicators of the real number of births in the country.
