Beja: Covid-19 patients transferred to the BA11 Reception Center.


Five covid-19 patients who were hospitalized at the Hospital de Beja were relocated at the BA11 Reception Center.

Five patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 who were admitted to the Covid Ward, which operates on the 3rd floor of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja, were transferred in the afternoon of this Monday to the Reception Center of the Air Base (BA) 11.

These are patients who need specific support, but without the need for hospitalization and which allows beds to be released in the hospital infected with the disease that require other clinical assistance.

The operation started around 16,30 hours and an hour and a half later the patients went to the Rear Support Structure (EAR) that operated in BA11 and performed in ambulances of the Beja Firefighters, Ferreira do Alentejo, Serpa and Vidigueira.

This is a joint intervention between the National Civil Protection Emergency Authority, through the Beja CDOS, that assumes the expenses with the Reception Center, the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA) responsible for doctors, nurses and clinical and Social Security material that is responsible for hiring support staff. At the Reception Center you will be on duty 1 technical director, 1 doctor, 2 nurses and a team of 12 assistants.

The Beja Hospital, which at the beginning of the year 24 beds increased their ability to 71 in Nursing and 8 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (UCI). According to the latest ULSBA data, are busy 52 beds in the Infirmary and the totality in the ICU.

Covid Reception Center at BA11

The space that works in a building from the end of the years 60, has a configuration with 44 double rooms, adaptations have been made to bathrooms and showers.

On 17 October the BA11 EAR received 58 women of the São José Mansion, in Beja, where an outbreak of covid had started, who was responsible for a hundred infected and 22 dead.
