Beja: Two Indian citizens in pre-trial detention for dozens of thefts and vandalism.


Two Indian nationals, one of 40 and other 22 year old, were placed in preventive detention by a Criminal Investigation Judge of the Beja Court, suspects of several crimes of theft and vandalism perpetrated over the last few weeks at various establishments and institutions in the city.

One of the cases that created great social alarm in the community occurred last night 9 October when the oldest of the suspects, Harpreet Singh, entered the Beja Volunteer Fire Brigade (BVBeja) and vandalized the facilities, breaking glass from the institution's doors and stealing various goods.

It was the firefighters who, upon realizing what had happened, chased the individual, immobilizing it until the arrival of the PSP, which ended up stopping him. The institution formalized a complaint against the perpetrator of the acts of vandalism.

On the last Friday of that same month, the defendant was brought before a judge to be tried in summary proceedings at the Court of Beja, where he came free. That same night, he entered a residence and committed a robbery., having been arrested in flagrante delicto, Present to a Criminal Investigation Judge (JIC) in the morning 29 October, was placed in preventive detention.

Following some thefts carried out in co-authorship with his compatriot and others in isolation, the youngest of the Indian citizens had already been presented to a JIC who had restored him to freedom. After being caught in the act of committing another theft, on Wednesday afternoon, the judge of the Beja Court was left with no, make the same decision that he had made towards his compatriot, Probation.

The two defendants will await trial at the Beja Prison.
