Today is a Municipal Holiday, in Beja county, the traditional Cob Day, with several initiatives in the city, such as the inauguration of the Monument in Homage to Combatants and the awarding of Medals of Merit.
At 09:30, at Praça do Ultramar, in the city of Beja, the Monument in Homage to the Combatants of the Municipality of Beja will be inaugurated.
The ceremony will be presided over by the Mayor of Beja, Dr. Paulo Arsénio and the President of the League of Combatants Lieutenant-General Joaquim Chito Rodrigues and will be attended by the highest civil and military entities in the Beja region. During the ceremony, will be honored, with commemorative campaign medals, former colonial war fighters.
At 11:00, during a Solemn Session to be held at the Pax-Júlia Teatro Municvipal, the Municipal Council of Beja attributes to EDIA-Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infrastructures of Alqueva, João Lopes Batista, founder of Cebal, Francisco Torrão and Padre Henrique will receive the Medal of Municipal Merit of Beja.
In the José Manuel Carreira Marques Municipal Park there are various activities for children and families with choral groups performing.
