Beja: Young people from Casa Pia, tried for robbery and aggravated robbery


Two young, P.V e M.V., of 17 and 18 year old, respectively, institutionalized at Casa Pia de Beja, were accused and will be tried by a Panel of Judges in the city court, for the crimes of robbery and qualified theft. The youngest defendant, is in pre-trial detention at the Leiria Jovens Prison.

A third individual, of 15 year old, from the same institution, was considered unaccountable, for being a minor.

According to the indictment order of the public prosecutor (MP) Beja, that the Lidador News (LN) We had access, in the morning 22 January, the youngest of the defendants, in the middle of a public road in Beja, stole an octogenarian's suitcase, who was accompanied by her daughter. Using force, the individual threw both women to the ground, suffering the same various abrasions. After getting hold of the suitcase, I removed the goods from inside and left it a few meters away.. Identified by the two women, the young man was detained by a PSP agent, gift to a Criminal Investigating Judge (JIC) and preventive detention was ordered.

Two months before, P.V. and another unidentified individual, acting in communion of efforts, attempted to steal a motorized bicycle, no value 2.000 euros, that the owner was preparing to store in the garage. Taking advantage of an oversight, they stole the key that was in the ignition and which also had control over the storage space.. During the night, they entered the garage and stole the bicycle., which was recovered by PSP and handed over to the owner.

In the early morning of that same day, 22 November, the two defendants, accompanied by the unattributable minor, they kicked in the door of a commercial establishment and took several bottles of alcoholic and energy drinks, tobacco packs, edible goods and the money that was in the cash register.

As for D.S., the theft case was archived, due to legal inadmissibility of criminal proceedings, since at the time of the events there had been 15 year old. The M.P. Attorney. of Beja responsible for the accusation, ordered to extract a certificate from the order, forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Family and Minors Court of Beja in order to be instructed in the educational guardianship process.
