Beja: Indian citizen judged for vandalizing and stealing property from fire station.


Two Indian nationals, who are in custody, and a Spaniard by birth, but son of Portuguese and resident in Beja, were accused by the Public Prosecutor's Office of this city with four crimes of qualified theft in the completed form and four in the attempted form.

One of the crimes of theft, perpetrated by one of the citizens of Indonesian origin, of 49 year old, considered very violent, occurred on the night of 9 October last year, when the individual, vandalized the facilities of the Beja Volunteer Fire Station (BVBeja), breaking glass from the institution's doors and stealing various goods.

According to the charge order that the Lidador News (LN) We had access, the defendant circulated through various divisions of the barracks from where he stole several items worth more than 5.000 euros, having been chased by two firefighters who held him until the arrival of the PSP who detained him.

The three individuals together or alone carried out robberies at a kiosk, located in Terreiro das Peças, near Beja Castle, cause damage greater than 100 euros. In a restaurant they took it from the register and a tip box, more than 1.500 euros and a bag containing bank cards. The criminals entered two apartments where they stole food, drinks and clothes worth more than 200 euros.

The two Indian citizens were present at their first judicial interrogation on the day 28 October 2023, having been applied to them as a measure of coercion the identity and residence term (TIR) and on the night of that same day they were arrested again by PSP agents committing new thefts. Present the next day before a Criminal Investigation Judge, they were ordered into preventive detention, awaiting trial in Prison Beja.
