Murderer, Manuel Santos (“Açorda wheat”) confessed to stabbing his friend, because he offended you. Public prosecutor defends simple and unskilled homicide.
“He was drunk and he offended me. He called me a fucker, son of a bitch and ordered the house cleaned with horns. I freaked out. I grabbed the knife and killed him ”, justified yesterday to the Judicial Collective of the Court of Beja, Manuel dos Santos, accused of the death of friend Francisco Ferro, with six stab wounds.
Known as “Blé Açorda”, of 59 year old, the defendant maintained that the victim, also known as “Chinese”, of 63 year old, “Was hit with three stabs”, adding that he “was facing me and tried to defend himself”, changing the version of gave it to the authorities when it was heard on the day of the crime and at the investigation stage.
Despite judges and prosecutors (MP) believe that the victim was attacked from behind, corroborated by the inspector of the PJ of Faro who maintained that “she was surprised by the aggressor, there were no signs of defense ”, in the final allegations António Marcante defended that the accused should be convicted of simple and unskilled homicide, how was accused, since “despite everything, it was not for a futile reason or because of that straw ”, maintained the Prosecutor of the MP.
The defense lawyer of “Blé Açorda” accepted for endorsing the position of the MP in relation to the request for the condemnation of his client regarding the qualification of the crime, claiming that “what is at stake is whether the accused is non-imputable”, held. Pinela Fernandes had submitted an application requesting a medico-legal assessment from her client, defending that “suffers from personality disorder and psychiatric problems”, based on the conclusions of the social reports of the Directorate-General for Prison Services and psychiatrist, request rejected by the MP and the Collective of Judges.
The crime occurred at about 13,30 horas do dia 26 May last year, at the defendant's house, in Beja, the victim was hit with six stabs in the chest and abdomen area, that punctured his lung and diaphragm on the right side and caused his death. Then he left home and confessed to the crime at the PSP Police Station in the city.
At the end “Blé Açorda” said he was “sorry for what he did and if he could, he would go back”, the reading of the judgment is scheduled for the afternoon of the next day 12 March.
Indictment: The accused is accused of a crime of qualified homicide and another of possession of a prohibited weapon. The MP asked for a simple murder conviction.
Indemnities: The victim's two children have become assistants in the process and are demanding large amounts of compensation for non-pecuniary damage..
