In the first seven months of the year, from January to July 2023, face a 2022, no Beja district, there was an increase in the number of accidents (+16,6%) and fatalities (+50%).
According to data revealed by the National Road Safety Authority (Mor), in 2022 They were verified 247 accidents against 288 already registered this year, which means an increase in 16,6%.
The number of fatalities increased by 50%, with 12 victims last year against 18 this year.
Serious injuries also increased in the district, passing 39 in 2022 to 52 this year, which corresponds to more 33,3%, the second highest in Portugal, only surpassed by Braga (+42).
Also among minor injuries, the percentage between the two years was higher in 20,3%, with 271 in 2022 and 326 in 2023.
Regarding the most serious accident, fatalities and injured bars (VM+FG), In the first seven months of the year, face a 2022, a sharp increase was observed in the district of Beja (+37,3%), the third highest in the country, after Castelo Branco (+80,8%), Braga (+46,2%)
The two accidents with the highest number of victims occurred in the municipalities of Beja and Odemira.
In the first case in a collision on the EN393, in Odemira, there have been 2 dead, 1 serious injured and 2 minor injuries and in the second case, in a crash on EM511, in the municipality of Beja there was a death recorded, 2 serious injuries and 5 injured passenger.
