Takes place in Beja, this friday and saturday, o XVII Mega Sprinter, bringing together the students selected in the school tests, local and regional and from all over the national territory, including Azores.
The National Mega Sprinter is an important event in the annual sports calendar of the National School Sports Program, that in the different stages (school, local e regional) hundreds of competitions were held, from North to south, in which approximately 121.000 students, resulting in the final tabulation of those who will compete, in Beja, the speed competitions (40 m), weight throws and adapted (of precision), long jump and endurance (1 km).
So, the city of Beja will receive the joy and enthusiasm of about 680 participating students and 150 teachers, to which they join 60 volunteer students, next to 60 operational assistants from the schools involved in the support and more than 80 people in other organizational tasks and many others, of the security forces, municipality and other partner entities.
The events take place at the Municipal Sports Complex “Fernando Mamedeâ€, and in the day 21 April (6Wednesdays), in addition to the reception of delegations of students and teachers, the opening ceremony, which will take place at 20:00, following- if the first day of the competition, a partir das 21h00.
On 22 April, from 8:30 am, the competition will resume, as the 2nd day, a very lively and highly competitive morning is thus expected.
This competition is the result of a joint organization between the Directorate-General for Education (through the National Coordination of School Sports), the General Directorate for Schools (with the direct involvement of the Alentejo Regional School Sports Coordination) and the Portuguese Athletics Federation, also counting on the important support of the Municipality of Beja.
