prolonged illness victim, died today at 85 year old, the surgeon and former president of the hospital in Beja Apolino de Almeida, unit where I was hospitalized.
Born in Viseu, where he was born in 26 February 1936, Apolino de Almeida graduated in General Surgery and arrived in Alentejo in 1966 to provide service in Cuba and in the former hospital in Beja.
He completed his military service in Cape Verde and, in 1970, returned to Beja and joined the clinical staff of the new hospital, opened in July this year.
Since, he was always connected as a surgeon to the hospital in Beja, who drove from 1980 a 1986 and, later, between 1994 and 2002.
The Federation of Baixo Alentejo do PS, party of which I was a militant, lamented the death of the surgeon-physician and remembered his “legacy” and “invaluable contribution” to “the improvement of health conditions in the region”.
The wake takes place at the Mortuary Houses of Beja and the funeral is scheduled for Thursday, a partir the 10:30, to the town cemetery.
