The Municipality detected 114 vacant urban buildings and notified the owners to explain the reason. Without a response, the IMI is tripled.
In a Notice dated the previous day 18, the Urban Planning Department of Beja City Council notified the owners of 114 urban buildings located in 14 localities in the municipality, considered as vacant and if no justification is given to the municipality, will be subject to the IMI increase rate to triple.
Most of the vacant homes are in the city of Beja. Residential houses located in urban areas that have been unoccupied for more than a year are considered vacant..
Here is the list of vacant homes highlighted by the municipality:
Beja- 49, Fat Head- 11, Saved- 8, BaleizĂŁo, Beringel and Penedo Gordo- 7 in each, Albernoa- 6, Mombeja e Trigaches- 4 in each, Neves and Quintos- 3 in each, Santa Clara de Louredo and Trindade- 2 in each and Vila Azedo- 1.
Local authorities must communicate their decision on IMI rates to the Customs Tax Authority by 31 of December, by electronic data transmission, to take effect in the following year.
