Beja: Museum Jorge Vieira opened 1 September in the Castle, the Governor's House.
The Governor's House, located in Beja Castle, receives provisionally, the Museum Jorge Vieira, since the previous physical space of the House of Arts was in quite degraded.
It reopened on Sunday, day 1 of September, the Museum Jorge Vieira, a museum dedicated to contemporary art Center, harboring part of the estate of one of the most important Portuguese century sculptors. XX.
Jorge Vieira was born in 1922, in Lisbon, but early on established a very strong emotional relationship with the Alentejo, where died in 1998. With a singular path, it is a sculptor of rupture, pioneer in abstraction and surrealism. In the decade of 90, the last century, the result of a close relationship with the municipality of Beja, Jorge Vieira decided to give it a significant part of his artistic estate.
This collection is the source of Jorge Vieira Museum, which will be installed, provisionally, the Governor's House (na photos), the Beja Castle, since the previous physical space of the House of Arts was in quite degraded, now giving greater dignity exposure Carver.
