Beja firefighters with second Permanent Intervention Team (EIP), created with financial support from the municipality. The corporation has the first team since 5 May 2019 and the GPB since 5 April 2003.
The Town Hall (CMB), the direction and command of the Volunteer Firefighters of Beja (BVBeja), presented on Monday morning, the second Permanent Intervention Team (EIP) from the local corporation, who went into service today, on a three-year contract.
The EIP are made up of five elements, the financial component being supported in equal parts, by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) and by the municipality.
BVBeja have the first EIP since 5 May 2019 and were among the first corporations in the country to create, in 5 April 2003, a permanent group of firefighters (GPB), have the same operational characteristics as the EIP's, but the payment is made in full by the municipality, having been created in the last mandate of the historic mayor José Manuel Carreira Marques.
At the presentation of the new EIP, surrounds ax, chairman of the board of BVBeja justified that to be part of that structure “one has to be a volunteer and fulfill 230 hours, as such and belongs to the ranks of the corporation”, justifying that the team “is an asset in helping populations”, counting the institution with a staff of about 100 operational, men and women.
In turn, the mayor of Beja, considered that it is a matter of “assuming the commitment to reinforce the human resources of the firefighters and that the creation of the team follows this path”, adding Paulo Arsénio that the formation of yet another team “was the answer no to a challenge from firefighters, but to a need” concluded.
Telma Barahona, firefighter there 26 year old, and Alexandra Ramos, There 8 year old, integrate the new EIP and share the same idea: “do the work of a professional with pleasure, how to volunteer, serving above all the populations”.
Asked by Lidador News (LN) about a citizen group's campaign to raise money to repair the fireman's ladder, which is out of order, Paul Arsenio, justified that "on the next day 8 there is a CIMBAL meeting and we are going to propose to the other twelve mayors that they can assume the payment of the 60 thousand euros, with the Municipality of Beja to pay 30 thousand and the remainder distributed according to the population of each municipality”, concluded.
This Monday morning on the “Friends of BVBeja” account, funds offered by institutions, companies and citizens, It was from 12.111 euros, in a campaign that started last day 21 July.
