The Municipality of Beja promotes tomorrow, a partir the 10,30 hours, with the Casa da Cultura as the meeting place, the Luminous Tours “Beja Drawn” with Paulo Monteiro.
The history of Portuguese comics in the 21st century cannot be completed without passing through Beja. For a long time now, the city has been dressed in a thousand images and many projects. This luminous tour takes us through the intricacies of the 9th Art, helping to understand the intimate relationship it establishes with the city.
Paulo Monteiro (comic book author)
Paulo Monteiro was born in Vila Nova de Gaia, in 1967. Graduated in Literature, at the University of Lisbon, in 1991.
During this period he also studied Painting and Scenography for Theater.. He wrote about comics for many years.
In 1993 came to live in Beja, your adopted city. From 2005 who directs the Bedeteca de Beja and the Beja International Comics Festival, where authors from all over the world have passed. Edited 4 poetry fanzines: Poems (1988), Poems riding in the car (2003), Japanese Poems (2005), and 25 I return to Ecuador to find you (2014); and 3 comic books: The Infinite Love I have for you (2010), Mariana (2019), and A Man Without Fear (2021).
He has held several exhibitions with his work and several conferences on the History of Portuguese comics and their authors.
In Angola, in Brazil and a little throughout Europe. He also regularly travels around the South of Portugal visiting schools in small towns and cities to talk about comics or his work as an author..
He joined the National Academy of Fine Arts in 2022. He has several projects on hand.
