During 11 years was responsible for the Casa da Cultura of Beja and for its programming, Paulo Monteiro, “The Lord Bedeteca”, left office and moved to another sector in the City Council.
At the time of departure, Paulo Monteiro left a message of recognition: “11 years of very intense work, that i will never forget. The time has come to change. Since day 1 January I joined the Tourism and Heritage Division where I can dedicate myself, Among other things, to the project of the future Beja Comics Museum, a wonderful project that adds to our city a unique offer in the country. I will also continue to dedicate myself to the International Festival of Comics and to the Bedeteca (we have a handful of ongoing projects)”.
“The Lord Bedeteca”, is a grateful professional, by justifying that “I wanted to thank, first of all, the confidence of the executives I worked with. And send a huge hug from here to my colleagues at Casa da Cultura”.
Paulo Monteiro reviewed the 11 years of Casa da Cultura where he justified that “we did dozens of workshops, project presentations, conferences, meetings, book releases, concertos, etc., etc. I remember with nostalgia the Horrible March, the Month of Photography, o Natsuyoka Meet, Cinema and BD Nights, Tertulia Nights, and many, many other initiatives that we have been doing over time. We did, also, Close of 300 exhibitions! By azulejaria, cartoon, pottery, drawing, sculpture, photography, illustration, painting…”
“I have no doubt in stating that the vast majority of artists from the county and the region passed through this house. And also great national and foreign artists. It was always an open house to all the arts and sensibilities. It couldn't be otherwise. Some of our exhibitions toured the country, roaming. They were over 40, the counties where we were present. Others crossed national borders and took the city's name to the whole of Europe or to places as far away as Angola or Brazil ...”, finished.
