Beja: Judicial Police arrested two men for qualified fraud and coercion.


The Judicial Police (PJ), through South Board, developed yesterday, a police operation that resulted in the arrest, in Beja, of two men, of 29 and 42 year old, on suspicion of committing crimes of qualified fraud and coercion, harming a trader in an amount close to 40 thousand euros.

According to the statement on the PJ page, the suspects will have lured the victim into the alleged acquisition of gold items of that value, ending up appropriating the articles through coercion and threats.

They are already referenced with police records for similar facts, namely for extortion crimes, teasing, robberies with firearms, fraudulent loan granting and drug trafficking, among others.

During the operation, several relevant pieces of evidence were seized., cash amounts, a high capacity vehicle, which is suspected to have been acquired in part with the proceeds of illicit, some of the stolen gold pieces were also recovered.

The investigations included the collaboration of the PSP of Beja, and were accompanied by elements from ASAE.

The detainees will be present for the first judicial interrogation with a view to the application of coercive measures.
