The signing of the contract between the Polytechnic Institute of Beja (IPBeja) and the company that won the competition for the construction of a new student residence.
This act is the highlight of a strategic partnership between IPBeja and the City Council (CMB), which aimed to overcome the proliferation of student residences located in various parts of the city.
The project was approved under the National Accommodation Program for Higher Education with the support of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) It means an investment 16,5 million euros and will make available 503 new beds.
The building to be constructed within a period of 17 months, will be installed on the IPBeja Campus, next to the Higher School of Technology and Management (evening), on a plot of land provided free of charge by the municipality of Bejense.
Maria de Fatima Carvalho, President of IPBeja, stated that it is “a structuring project for the Polytechnic, which aims to be a hub of attractiveness, by providing accommodation to students at low cost”, remembering that being an institution in the interior “needs to create differentiating conditions when it comes to attracting new students”, concluded
The president of the PRR Monitoring Committee, highlighted the fact that for the construction of the new residence “we are talking about a significant investment”, maintaining that it is “an innovative offer, sustainable and, especially with great quality to attract students to IPBeja”, finished.
The person responsible for the company that will build the residence, Nuno Fernandes, spoke about the construction of “an innovative building that we hope to open soon 486 days ", after the 30 project execution days.
On the day of signing the contract, and according to the website, the Social Support Services/SAS-IPBeja, offer 399 beds in 6 residential. The future of these locations will be defined after the new space is completed.
