Beja: Prague pigeon louse closes Observation Service (SO) do Hospital.

A louse plague pigeon yesterday forced the closure of the room Note Service (SO) Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja.

The plague was detected at about 19,00 hours, patients having been admitted to other services of the hospital and the OS closed and dewormed.

The Public Relations Office of the Local Health Unit of the Lower Alentejo (ULSBA), where the hospital is integrated, confirmed the closure of the service, compared to a "pest pigeons lice, the Board of Directors of ULSBA decided to close for a period of 12 hours OS, hospitalization of patients with, putting in place to mediate the disinfestation ", justified.

The Beja Hospital Observation Services, It has five beds and three stretchers, and is the intermediate space, between the high and relocation of a patient, which was closed immediately and made the transfer of patients to the floors of admissions. All other services are located on the ground floor, in the north wing of the hospital were not affected and is running normally, such as the Emergency Department.

The Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes is one of the Beja areas where there is a huge plague of-domestic pigeons, particularly in the building called Tower, located in the neighborhood of Air Force which is about 200 meters from hospital, and that those birds are infested.
