Beja: Reopening of the Municipal Market takes place next Thursday.


The reopening ceremony of the Beja Municipal Market, will take place on Thursday, day 12 September 2024, at 11:00 am, on the premises of the Market itself.

According to the Municipality of Beja, “this special occasion, which marks the resumption of commercial activities in our Municipal Market, now revitalized to better serve our community”, justified the Municipality.

The space closed in February 2020, intervention in the Market had an initial investment of around 2 million, and will have four kiosks, 21 stores and 26 fish banks, vegetables and other products

According to the information provided during the last meeting of the Beja Chamber Executive, the traditional farmers market that takes place on Saturdays near Lardo de Santo Amaro, will continue to take place in the same space and adjacent streets, the space being completely clean of the present temporary installations that exist there.

Other information given, is that the street vendors selling fruit and other food items who gather on Saturdays at Jardim do Bacalhau, will leave the place and will have to choose one of two situations, or Largo de Santo Amaro or the Municipal Market.
