In a statement, the Union Association of Police Professionals (ASPP/PSP) denounces the situation and maintains that “police are preparing protest”.
The ASPP/PSP met with professionals from the PSP of Beja and issued a statement in which it states that it “noted the enormous dissatisfaction of the staff” regarding the interpretation that is being made by the district commander, with regard to paid services, stating that “the police who are off-duty are put to work, leaving those available without working”.
The ASPP/PSP maintains that “such an interpretation is contrary to the rules in force” and only reflects an “intransigence stance”. The association reveals that “it has already requested the District Command and the National Directorate to resolve the situation”.
ASPP adds that there were also reports of “lack of ballistic vests and radios, which makes operational service difficult”, as, the scaling of isolated elements, which jeopardizes the safety of Beja professionals.
ASPP/PSP reports that, if the situation of paid services continues, “will involve those concerned in the sense of promoting struggles considered convenient” to change the Command’s option.
In the statement, the association says it has “full availability” to be a contribution to the resolution of this specific problem..
When Lidador News (LN) the PSP's Beja District Command promised a reaction to the matter next Monday.
