Beja / Tavira: ceremony to mark the 371st anniversary of the Infantry Regiment 1.


The Infantry Regiment No. 1, will celebrate in 27 September 2019, its 371 anniversary with a solemn session at the Republic Square, in Tavira, by 10:30.

The Infantry Regiment No. 1, based in Beja and a Detachment in Tavira (na photos), annually celebrates its Unity Day to 27 of September, date on which this Regiment participated in the Battle of Buçaco against the invading Napoleonic forces.

In this battle, fought during the Third French Invasion and during the Peninsular War, mode or cast, courageous and dedicated Regiment led to this day be perpetuated as the biggest day in memory of its military.

The ceremony consists of a Military Parade, imposition of decorations to military and veterans and the launch of the Infantry Journal 2019, to that end the Media are invited to be present at the event, which will have the following schedule:

27SET19 - Friday
Hoisting the National Flag (Beja and Tavira), 08h30 - Mass in the Church of S. Francisco (Tavira), Till 10:15 - Arrival of guests, 10h20 - Upper Body Check (AE), 10H30 - Military Ceremony:Continence Forces in AE to stop presiding the ceremony; Incorporation of National Banner at graduation; Ceremony of homage to the Dead; Statement by the Commander RI 1; Address of the High Authority; Imposition of decorations; Parade of Force Army Band Parade and Performance, 11h45 - Solemn Session of the launch of the Infantry Journal 2019, 13H00 - Lunch at Posting of Tavira and 17.30 - lowering of the national flag (Beja and Tavira).
