Competition launched for the expansion of the Beja Hospital ICU. Approximately one million euros will be invested. Pandemic can condition works.
The Intensive Care Unit (UCI) Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes (HJJF), in Beja, will be the target of works, aiming at creating better technical conditions in an investment of around one million euros.
The public tender procedure has already been published in Diário da República, being the same taking place, the winning proposal should be known in the next few days, the contract for the expansion of those services, whose works are to be completed 180 days after its start.
Currently at HJJF, which is managed by the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA), there is a dispersion of valences over two floors of the hospital, with the ICU to operate on the 1st floor (na photos), next to the Operating Room and the UCI Covid-19 on the third floor.
With the expansion works, the new UCI will be operating on the 1st floor, with 8 beds and two more beds in isolation rooms, with negative pressure, thus helping, according to Conceição Margalha, chairman of the ULSBA Board of Directors, “For the improvement of the conditions of treatment and assistance to the patientsâ€, justified.
According to the hospital administrator, after the work is completed, “All technical conditions will be ensured, guaranteeing a better performance in the treatment of patients and better working conditions for professionals â€, leaving the caveat that the project “will be dependent on the evolution of the pandemic, since the ULSBA will have to decrease the internment capacity at the ICU, closing four beds â€, in order to allow the intervention to start.
