After a physical interregnum of 2 years due to the pandemic, the “Silarca Festival of the Mushroom” is returning to Praça Magalhães Lima in the Parish of Cabeça Gorda these days 3, 4 and 5 March 2023.
Organized by the Parish Council of Cabeça Gorda (JFCG), it's a festival, according to a statement from the institution “seeks to explore in a pedagogical and gastronomic way the potential of wild resources, with particular focus on the mushroom”, Amanita Ponderosa – Silarca, that gives its name to the Festival since 2014.
Bruno Ferreira, actor, announcer, humorist, writer, natural de Beja, he has been the Ambassador of the Silarca Mushroom Festival since its 3rd edition (2016), that uninterruptedly, much has contributed to the appreciation of this species of mushroom, as well as the Fat Head, its collectivities and natural heritage.
This year's Edition Program is being finalized and will be announced shortly, anticipating the JFCG that “it includes the traditional typical taverns for tasting mushrooms in their different forms, Show cookings, workshops, mycological tour, conferences, speeches, regional products market and musical shows, among many other activities full of animation”.
The “catchers” of Silarcas will also be valued, and there will be the traditional Mycological Lota, where visitors can purchase the Silarcas, duly certified.
The organization of the “Silarca Mushroom Festival”, leave the challenge: “we are sure that the “physical” return of this event will positively mark the parish of Cabeça Gorda and the Municipality of Beja, as well as all the partners involved”.
