Sing Alentejo: In the 4th birthday will be lançandas four publications, in book and CD.

The Intermunicipal Community of the Lower Alentejo (CIMB) and the Alentejo Daily, in partnership with the newspaper “Public” mark the 4th anniversary of the Alentejo Sing as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On 27 November 2014, UNESCO declared the Alentejo Sing as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

To mark the fourth anniversary of this classification, the cymbal and Alentejo's Daily newspaper are associated with the initiative "Public" that will launch four publications Sing Alentejo (Book and CD), a partir de 27 November.

This tribute to Sing Alentejo is coordinated by Professor Salwa Castelo-Branco and Professor Paulo Lima, responsible for application to UNESCO.

The sing, while distinguishing element of our territory, embodies a strong sense of belonging and sharing. Marks our identity, indelibly, strengthening the dialogue between generations, genders and people of different backgrounds, contributing to social cohesion.

IT IS, above all, a very present practice in social and cultural life of our communities, both in the geographical area of Baixo Alentejo, and in the diaspora, through which not only continually reaffirms a cultural heritage and identity, but also build and consolidate new future opportunities and development.

The multiplicity of interpretations and appropriations that Sing enables and inspires, while heritage listed or cultural practice alive, while spontaneous demonstration or more elaborate artistic expression, It is now more evident thanks to the recognition of UNESCO.

This event four years ago has highlighted that, more important than celebrating a classification is, after all, celebrate daily, with real pride, what characterizes us as a people and unites.
