Castelo de Vide: Defense Minister visit work done by the Engineering military 1 (Tip).
The Minister of National Defence, Aguiar Branco, moves today to Castelo de Vide, where will visit the work being carried out in that county, the Rules of Engineering (RE) 1, based in Pontinha (Lisbon).
The works are the result of a protocol signed, last day 5 February, between the RE 1 and the Municipality of Castelo de Vide (na photos: the commander of RE1, Colonel Engineering João Pires and the Mayor, Pita), under the Civil Operational Plan (PAOC) 2015, which provides the framework for the use of Military Engineering in the public interest tasks to be carried out by the Army.
The military of RE1 are in the process of opening, widening and improvement of roads in the municipality of Castelo de Vide, promoting the completion of clearing work, flatness, compaction and settlement of ditches, an extension of 1.450 meters. In some of the sections still carry the clay spreading, in order to avoid the removal of the existing rock outcrops.
According to a source of Castelo de Vide Chamber, the rehabilitation of roads "will be an aid tool in the prevention and fight against Forest Fire", by building improved accessibility to one of the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede.
The arrival of Aguiar Branco to the Municipality of Castelo de Vide is scheduled for 11,30 hours, followed by the warm welcome by the president of the city council, Pita, the presentation of ongoing work by RE1 and closing with the intervention of the Minister of Defense.
