Lundin Mining is studying the possibility of selling the Neves-Corvo Mine, Alentejo in the municipality of Castro Verde, in an operation valued at around one billion euros, Bloomberg advances citing knowledgeable sources.
The mining company, based in Toronto, is already contacting potential consultants for the operation while studying various options for the copper and zinc mine.
If the company proceeds with this sale, to Neves mine- Corvo could arouse the interest of other rival companies in the sector. Despite the news of this possibility of sale, there is also the possible scenario that Lundin decides to keep this asset in Portugal. The company declined to comment on the matter.
In the second quarter of this year, the Neves-Corvo mine produced 7,9 million tons of copper and 20,6 million tons of zinc.
