In November, Science and Technology Week is celebrated in Portugal and the CEBAL-Center for Agricultural and Agro-food Biotechnology of Alentejo, once again joins the national celebrations, with the aim of bringing Science closer to Society.
Focusing on promoting Culture and Scientific and Technological Transfer in Portugal, CEBAL marks the celebrations with two Seminars and a Webinar, to happen between days 17 and 23 November 2023. This month Science and Technology Week is celebrated in Portugal, running on days 20 a 29 November and CEBAL, over the years, has been marking this week's celebrations with several initiatives that aim to publicize the science promoted in Alentejo.
In this year's program, CEBAL marks the dissemination of science with the event “Transfer of Technology for Territorial Valorization†which is divided into two seminars, and another session of the “Um Dia Com…†initiative, in webinar format, that will take place on the days 17, 22 and 23 November, respectively.
The two seminars aim to discuss the importance of transferring technology and scientific knowledge between I.&D and the different audiences in the region, focusing on the animal production and agroforestry and agrifood sectors. The webinar, addresses the topic of Circular Economy, with the use of by-products and industrial waste as raw material for the production of Biofuels.
In more detail, on 17 November, by 14:30, the first seminar “Promoting the Use of Agro-industrial Co-products in Animal Feed†takes place, included in the Event “Technology Transfers for Territorial Valorizationâ€, which will take place at the Southern Farmers Association (ACOS), in Beja.
The session focuses on transferring knowledge about the use of surplus raw materials from agro-industrial processes (co-products) in animal feed, with sharing of results from research activities but also experiences from companies that already apply agro-industrial co-products in their production practices.
This session takes place within the scope of the Conference Cycle – “Agroindustrial coproducts & Animal Feed – For circular animal productionâ€, that after two years of sessions in online format, will be developed in person registration. Registration is open via the link – https://bit.ly/3QGYe7H.
