One month after the beginning of the assembly of the shipyard and the sealing of the space, the construction work of the new building of the Technology Transfer and Valorization Center in Beja (CVTTB) is stopped. In question new depth soundings.
The new Technology Transfer and Valorization Center in Beja – Building of the Alentejo Agricultural and Agri-Food Biotechnology Center (CEBAL), will be located near the Covered Pools, near the headquarters of Despertar Sporting Clube, but after the opening of the first foundations a problem was detected that led to its stop.
According to information from the Municipality of Beja, the project promoter, “the beginning of the excavations for the work revealed that the depth would have to be greater than that stated in the project. That is why the designer carried out new surveys, the results of which are awaited”, justified.
Remember that the municipality opened, last day 24 March, the proposals received under the second public tender for its construction. After a first call without applications, have now been achieved 5 companies interested in the work, evidencing the commitment of the Municipality of Beja to reinforce the investigation, technological development and innovation in the Municipality of Beja and Alentejo.
As the work was awarded to the company Moreira e Serrano, Lda, with a value of 1.464989,87 + 6% VAT, supported by community support, with a construction period of 540 days.
The candidacy presented by the Municipality of Beja, results from a partnership with CEBAL and the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, the Regional Operational Program Alentejo 2020, which brought together a disruptive and strategic vision of Science for the Territory. A science with social impact, economic, cultural and environmental, which helps to enhance the attractiveness of new investments, knowledge-based, valuing an economy based on endogenous resources and emerging activities with a high technological index.
The infrastructure to be built will allow CEBAL to expand the laboratories and experimentation rooms for the development of its activity, reinforcing the knowledge and technology transfer strategy initiated by the Center in 2015. This strategy is defined by its Technology Transfer Enhancement Program (2015-2025), which links CEBAL to a set of actions aimed at increasing the dissemination and penetration of knowledge and technologies in the productive fabric, based on the research that is carried out, both by CEBAL and by other entities of I&D, as well as contributing to the development, short to medium term, of innovative and attractive solutions for the Territory.
