The GNR signaled in October this year 3.411 elderly people living alone or isolated, or vulnerable, no Beja district, under the "Senior Census Operation".
In a statement, the GNR says that in the edition of 2021 of the "Senior Census Operation", carried out throughout the national territory, realized “172 classroom actions and 3.431 actions door to door, covering a total of 19.812 seniors”. The district of Beja is the fourth with the highest number of elderly people reported.
Vila Real (5.191 flagged elderly), Watch (5.012), Viseu (3.543), Lighthouse (3.521), Beja (3.411), Bragança (3.343) and Portalegre (3.130), Évora (2.941) and Santarém (2.099) are the districts where the GNR signaled the most elderly. In the remaining nine districts, the number of elderly people marked by the GNR is between the 946 in Porto and the 1.826 in Castelo Branco.
"The Guard signaled 44.484 older people living alone and / or isolated, or vulnerable, because of their physical condition, psychological, or another that may jeopardize your safety", completed the GNR.
In October 2018, the GNR had signaled 45.563 elderly living alone or isolated across the country, while in october of 2019 this number dropped to the 41.868 signs.
