The Rattles manufacturing won exactly one year ago – on 1 December 2015 – the title of World Heritage, at the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, held in Windhoek, na Namibia.
The application based on partnership – Municipality of Viana do Alentejo, Alentejo Tourism / Ribatejo and Board of Parish of Alcáçovas - aimed to achieve universal recognition of an identity art of the region, but also their appreciation and safeguarding.
In this regard some actions have already been implemented, as the restructuring of Fair Rattle – event that now associates this well rated to equestrian activities and the countryside - still highlighting the efforts of the Municipality in the profusion of using Chocalhofone concerts; and the dissemination of this heritage in newspapers, radio and television.
On the other hand, integrated in Rattle safeguard process has launched the project "100 Rattles Excellence, People Excellent " – an action that led 100 different personalities do national scene, as the President of the Republic, to sign 100 rattles that are part of a traveling exhibition that will tour the country and abroad.
Running in the near future are other actions and project structuring nature linked to the promotion of the Safeguard Plan. The Viana do Alentejo Municipality applied to PO Alentejo 2020 – awaiting the approval of the project – the implementation of PAGUS. This is a recovery center of cultural heritage and tourism to be installed in the historic-architectural complex of the Palace Henriques, em Alcáçovas.
This investment will allow the creation of an Interpretive Area and a documentary on the core Chocalheira Art. A iniciativa, pioneer in the Region, bring to Alcáçovas and the Alentejo a new centrality linked to the questions of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and UNESCO.
For your side, a Turismo do Alentejo, ERT will boot from 2017 with the actions of economic promotion in the tourism component, giving impetus to the sustainability strategy that the Safeguard Plan also perspective. Among other actions, already candidatadas to PO Alentejo 2020, Regional Entity of Tourism proposes to create a catalog of tourist experiences around the Rattles, and ensure the respective communication and promotion, attracting more visitors to the Alcáçovas and Alentejo.
Despite the initial document to provide for the implementation of actions between 2014 / 2017, the fact that UNESCO has classified the Rattles manufacturing in December 2015 It causes the initial time horizon extends to the end of 2018, implementing the Safeguard Plan.
Integrated in the actions that have been developed and to mark the first anniversary of Rattles manufacturing classification as Intangible Cultural Heritage, It will be released tomorrow, day 1 December at 16:00, a Children's Book about Rattles, at the Palace of Henriques, em Alcáçovas.
