Cycling: Alentejo journalist Fernando Emílio has died.


Fernando Emilio, passed away this Friday, on the same day as there 40 years Joaquim Agostinho died, the best Portuguese cyclist ever. The last race he followed was the Volta ao Alentejo, which took place 20 a 24 March.

Natural Alentejo from Ciborro, in Montemor-o-Novo, but living in Évora, Fernando Emílio died this Friday, to 77 year old. With a unique passion and enthusiasm for cycling, one of the several modalities in which he specialized during his career, the journalist was one of the most experienced and recognized in the field. Exactly died 40 years after Joaquim Agostinho, the best Portuguese cyclist ever.

we last 50 year old, Fernando Emílio told the stories and adventures of the Tour of Portugal by Bike. In 2023, during the test, was honored in Estremoz by the organization and received the badges of Merit Member of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, as recognition for the work dedicated to the modality, in a ceremony attended by several entities, friends and family.

According to family information, the wake will be today, day 11 May, a partir the 16 hours at the Church of the Sagrada Familia, at Álamos in Évora. The funeral will be tomorrow at 15 hours and the body will go to the Espinheiro cemetery in Évora.
