Cut-Mato: Delegations competing in the World Cup received from the City Council.


The delegations of 32 countries that will compete from this Wednesday in the 58th edition of the Military Cross-Country World Championship, which is set at the Air Base (BA) NÂş11, in Beja, were received in the Main Hall of the Chamber, by the mayor.

The competition, the first that is disputed in our country, will gather more than 300 athletes who will compete in the men's sectors, female and in a mixed relay. Portugal a team composed of 22 cutting specialists, representing the three branches of the Armed Forces and also the GNR and PSP.

Under the supervision of the International Military Sports Council (CISM-International Military Sports Council), the organization is the responsibility of the FAP and the Physical Education and Military Sports Commission of the Directorate-General for National Defense Resources, which has the sponsorship and support of the Municipality of Beja.

The delegations arrived in Portugal yesterday, via Humberto Delgado Airport, followed by transport from Lisbon to BA11 or by own aircraft to the Beja Terminal or BA11. To reach Portuguese soil, the delegation from Chile traveled 10.106 kilometers, the Peru 8.830, the equator 8.413, the India 8.232 and Brazil 7.435 kms.

The Mayor of Beja highlighted “the importance of welcoming all participants, wish them an excellent competition”, adding Paulo Arsénio that “I hope you like the city and enjoy its beauty”, justified.

The heads of delegations were greeted one by one, receiving offers from the municipality, by the Mayor of Beja, the highlight was when Paulo Arsenio greeted the head of the Ukrainian delegation (na photos) to whom he wished that “the war would end quickly, no more suffering for the Ukrainian people”, concluded.

Today the men's cross-country events are disputed, in the extension of 10 kilometers, in the presence of 149 athletes, of 30 countries and the female in the distance of 8 kilometers, where will they be 106 athletes from 24 countries.

Tomorrow will be the mixed relay competition, with 4 athletes and each to cover two kilometers, being disputed by 20 countries. Before the school cross-country takes place where they will participate 150 students from 9th to 12th from schools in Beja.
