Covid-19: Beja municipality registered 1.121 positive cases only in January.


In the thirteen municipalities under the purview of ULSBA and integrated into CIMBAL, in the first month of 2021 there have been 3.199 positive cases of covid-19, 1.121 of which in the municipality of Beja.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in 1 March 2020, to 31 of December (Daily report 01-01-2021), there was log 2.214 positive for covid-19. According to the daily report of the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA), which does not include the municipality of Odemira, concerning 24,00 hours 31 January (Daily report 02-01-2021), the total number of cases in those Municipalities was 5.413 infetados.

Looking at active cases on the day 31 December and after the day 31 January there is 1.369 positive cases of difference. On the last day of the year, 644 the active cases, one month later 2013.

In the same time periods under analysis, the number of fatalities is also very worrying. Between March and December there were 57 deaths, e só no mês de janeiro ocorreram 104, which makes a total of 161 killed in 31 January 2021.

County to county analysis.

Beja: Only in January is there a record of 1.121 cases, against 815 that had occurred in 10 months 2020, which translates into a total of 1.936 infected at the end of last January. The death toll doubled in just one month, passing 22 to 44 fatalities.

Aljustrel: there were 59 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 244 (January) and a total of 244 (31 January). There were 1 fatality (31 of December), more occurred 4 deaths (January), total of 5 dead (31 January).

Almodovar: there were 51 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 127 (January) and a total of 178 (31 January). 2 fatalities (31 of December), no more deaths occurred (January), total of 2 dead (31 January).

Alvito: there were 8 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 48 (January) and a total of 56 (31 January). There were no fatalities (31 of December), occurred 1 death (January), total of 1 dead (31 January).

Canyons: there were 14 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 27 (January) and a total of 41 (31 January). There were no fatalities (31 of December), occurred 1 death (January), total of 1 dead (31 January).

Castro Verde: there were 67 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 106 (January) and a total of 137 (31 January. The fatal victims were 2 (31 of December), more occurred 2 deaths (January), total of 4 dead (31 January).

Cuba: there were 135 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 401 (January) and a total of 536 (31 January). The fatal victims were 2 (31 of December), more occurred 17 deaths (January), total of 19 dead (31 January).

Ferreira do Alentejo: there were 60 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 117 (January) and a total of 177 (31 January). There were no fatalities (31 of December), occurred 5 deaths (January), total of 5 dead (31 January).

Mértola: there were 191 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 145 (January) and a total of 336 (31 January). The fatal victims were 2 (31 of December), more occurred 26 deaths (January), total of 28 dead (31 January).

Moura: there were 212 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 516 (January) and a total of 728 (31 January). The fatal victims were 4 (31 of December), more occurred 17 deaths (January), total of 21 dead (31 January).

Ourique: there were 76 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 124 (January) and a total of 200 (31 January). The fatal victims were 2 (31 of December), more occurred 2 deaths (January), total of 4 dead (31 January).

Serpa: there were 311 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 145 (January) and a total of 456 (31 January). The fatal victims were 18 (31 of December), more occurred 3 deaths (January), total of 21 dead (31 January).

Vidigueira: there were 215 positive cases (31 of December), recorded 78 (January) and a total of 293 (31 January). The fatal victims were 2 (31 of December), more occurred 4 deaths (January), total of 6 dead (31 January).

According to the daily report (Daily report 03-02-2021) the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA) concerning 24,00 horas do dia 2 Feb., the municipality of Beja registers more 722 active cases and 45 deaths. In the thirteen counties there is a 126 new confirmed cases, a total of 1.935, with 51 patients admitted to the Infirmary and 8 in Intensive Care at Beja Hospital. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 5.601 confirmed cases and 178 dead.
