From this Sunday, the municipalities of extreme and very high risk return to curfew at 13 hours, after Christmas restrictions easing.
Regarding restrictions, the Christmas spirit ends and as of today the heaviest interdictions return for municipalities at high or extremely high risk of contagion.
From this Sunday and until day 30 general measures of the state of emergency currently in force. In other words, the rules are staggered according to the various levels of risk of contagion, which means that this Sunday, the highest-risk counties return to curfew at 13 hours. There is no ban on movement between municipalities, situation that will continue until 31 of December.
With the beginning of the last day of the year (to 00.00 hours) the ban on crossing municipalities comes back into effect and circulation on public roads is prohibited as from 23 hours – restrictions valid throughout the territory. Restaurants may only be open until 22.30, a measure that is also nationwide.
In the first days of the year – a 1, 2 and 3 January – the heaviest restriction rules apply, covering the whole or country. Circulation between municipalities is not allowed nor is it allowed to walk on public roads after 13 hours (except as otherwise provided by law).
Catering establishments also have to close doors to the public from 13 hours, but they can stay up and running for home deliveries.
The ban on movement between municipalities ends at five in the morning of the day 4 of December.
During this period “public parties or open to the public are prohibited”, as well as “public road gatherings with more than 6 people”.
But the rules have their exceptions. Regarding the ban on movement between municipalities, the ten are already established, with “necessary adaptations”. One of the exceptions that does not apply has to do with travel due to teaching activity, since it is a period of interruption of classes. However, travel for the performance of professional functions is still permitted (by declaration of the employer or by the employer, in some circumstances).
Travel for imperative family reasons, namely regarding the sharing of parental responsibilities, are also admitted; as well as the trips back home.
Starting from 4 January back to standard “normal” with the highest risk counties with mandatory curfew from the 11 of the night, obligation for restaurants to close at 22.30. The current state of emergency is in effect until the next day 7 January, when it should be renewed.
According to the latest data 109 mainland Portugal remains at extreme or very high risk of contagion, 30 at the highest level of risk and 79 not immediately below. Right after that 92 counties considered to be of high risk and 77 moderate risk.
