At the Beja Football Association (AFBeja) the covid-19 pandemic did not cause deaths, but it was the reason for the disqualification and the division of three clubs, Odemirense, Milfontes and Aldenovense Beach, competing for the 1st Division District Championship.
In addition to the severe punishments, the three emblems suffered fines of 150 euros, for each of the games in which he was found out of no-show.
According to the associative evidence regulation, that will be eliminated and descends from division, the club that does not attend two consecutive games or three alternate games.
The clubs were opposed to the beginning of the competition and argued that AFBeja should postpone the event in time, due to the conviction of what they considered to be “the early start of amateur competitions, given the national pandemic outlook â€.
Who always opposed and considered that the conditions for the race dispute were met was the direction of AFBeja, chaired by Pedro Xavier (in the photo with the president of Odemirense), who always refused to postpone the start of the competition, ultimately accepting, the postponement of games, provided that there was a common agreement between the clubs involved in the matches.
Doing justice to the popular chorus, “What is born crooked, late or never straighten up â€, applies with all property to maximum associative proof, nicknamed “Districtâ€. Of 14 clubs foreseen in the regulations to compete in the competition, only 13 assumed that responsibility, which means that every day there is a team that, forcedly, rest well. Then came the movement, dubbed the “Revolt of the Sixâ€, where in addition to the three disqualified, were the Serpense Union, Awakening of Beja and Guadiana de Mértola, who advocated postponing the start of the competition.
Even before the start of the race, Serpa's team left the movement. A 18 October, with the 1st round dispute, the Bejense club “went to playâ€, while the Mertolians did not show up at their premises, but from there they started the competition, having “left over†Odemirense, Praia de Milfontes and Aldenovense that remained unyielding.
The first club to be disqualified, in 26 October, was Aldenovense for having committed two consecutive no-shows. Last Wednesday it was the turn of the Disciplinary Council of AFBeja to apply the same penalty to Praia de Milfontes and Odemirense. The first for also missing two games and the second for giving three interpolated fouls.
In the second round Odemirense still showed up at the game in Serpa, against the Union, but with seven players and two minutes after the start it was reduced to six units by injury to one player. Lost the game and the fine was bigger, 250 euros.
On your facebook page the direction of the Odemira club, chaired by Inês Correia, has already communicated to the members the punishment suffered justifying that “we continue to think that there should have been another approach to the opinion and will of everyone and not just those who wanted to playâ€, assuring members that they will continue to work, I leave the question in the air: “And for the next season we will see our future in terms of senior levelâ€.
The competition is far from the sporting truth and some clubs are already questioning whether it is worth continuing with this scenario, when most days only have 3 of 7 games that should be played.
