Covid-19: Outbreak with three infected teenagers in Beja home.
Seven positive cases of covid-19 in users and employees of the Manuel Gerardo de Sousa e Castro Foundation, in Beja.
An outbreak of covid-19 with three girls and four infected employees was detected at the home of a foundation in Beja that welcomes children and young people at risk, today told the agency Lusa the president of the institution.
The first case of infection by the virus that causes the covid-19 disease in the Manuel Gerardo de Sousa e Castro Foundation Home for Children and Youth at Risk was related to an employee, needed Conceição Casa Nova, executive board chairman.
Tests for the virus were then carried out at 33 girls and other employees of the institution, having six given positive result – those of three girls and three other employees – and the rest negative.
According to the official, as 33 girls are in confinement at home, the three infected, two with 16 years and one with 12, are in an area isolated from the rest.
The four infected employees are recovering at home, said Conceição Casa Nova, mentioning that seven of the non-infected employees made themselves available to stay in confinement at home to ensure care for users and the rest are at home.
The Manuel Gerardo de Sousa e Castro Foundation is a private institution of social solidarity managed by the community of Beja of the Catholic female religious order Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and its mission is to welcome children and young women at risk, aged 6 and 18 year old.
