COVID-19: Active outbreaks in Salvada and Fat Head (Beja). There 6 positive cases.


There are six positive cases of covid-19, in the parishes of Salvada and Cabeça Gorda, in Beja county. More than three dozen people from Salvada will be subjected to tests.

Despite four positive cases in Cabeça Gorda, all confined at home for about a week, there is no connection between the cases of the two localities, separated by just over 2 miles from the EM511-1.

Despite only two confirmed cases so far, Salvada's situation generates greater apprehension, between the authorities. There is a hospitalized patient and today and Monday, three dozen people will be subjected to screening tests. Possible positive cases among those tested, may lead to the closure of commercial establishments.

The first case of Salvada was detected during a consultation at the Beja Health Center and later the second, following contacts between those infected. After the situation is detected, people who had first-line contacts with patients were identified and called to perform covid-19 screening tests, that will take place at the Salvada Medical Post, carried out by a team from the Public Health Authority of the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA).

Has learned the Lidador News (LN) the four cases of Cabeça Gorda are rooted in people of the same family and were “imported” from another area of ​​the country following a family meeting.

A source from the municipality of Beja assured LN that these are the only active cases in the municipality, where there were two deaths, the first two in the Alentejo region, having in the past day 20 April, a man of 87 year old, user of Lar Nobre Feire and admitted to the José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital, both in the city of Beja, been the first deadly victim.
