Red Cross: Movement calls for new action of solidarity and protest.

The “Beja Red Cross Movement” (MCVB) created to defend workers and users of the institution’s homes, carries out a new protest action tomorrow at the Henry Dunant Nursing Home.

According to a document issued by the MCVB, “the action of solidarity and protest is against the closure of Red Cross homes in Beja”, and is scheduled for 3:30 pm at the unit in front of the Parish Union, and aims to “safeguard users and defend jobs”.

One month after the first action and less than thirty days before the scheduled date for the closure of the two Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI’s) and without a solution in sight for workers and users, the Movement calls for “the participation of users’ families, of workers and the population”.

It is recalled that on 15 January this year, the Lidador News (LN) revealed that the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) was going to close the two Residential Structures for the Elderly (ERPI) which it owns in the city of Beja, who at the time had 25 workers and around six dozen users.

Na height, the CVP justified that “it is actively, and in coordination with other competent entities, looking for the best solution for the entire community covered by ERPI’s”, adding that the institution “is committed to the users of the residences, their families and all the employees who work there every day.”, remataram.
