Red Cross: Appeal for the 9.180 euros applied by the Labor Court.


The Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) appealed to the Court of Appeal of Évora (THREE) the fine of 9.180 euros, applied by the Beja Labor Court (TTB) Following an Act inspective process.

The decision of Judge Catarina Serra do TTB occurred on the day 3 December 2024, following an offense applied by the local unit of the coast and low Alentejo of the authority for work conditions (ACT) no value 12.240 euros for the lack of internal safety and health service at work.

The inspection process began after the crash of a CVP ambulance assigned to the CVP Safara and Sobral da Adiça Delegation (DSeSA-CVP), an accident that occurred on the night of 8 May 2019, the National Road (IN) 258, when the ambulance was moving from Safara to Santa Aleixo da Restauração, which resulted in the death of two of the three institution workers who were in the vehicle, that did not transport any patients.

After the process has been instructed, ACT notified CVP of its conclusions, which involved correcting the anomaly and drawing up the infraction notice worth 12.240 euros. To the offending entity were two solutions to pay or contest the fine. The Red Cross opted for the second option, which led the Authority to refer the case to the Public Ministry (MP) of Beja for legal proceedings.

The MP instructed the administrative offense process and sent it to the Beja Labor Court, who notified the CVP of the fine, which led to the resort of the decision, What originated the judgment from which I result in the conviction of the Red Cross.
