Cuba: Outbreak of covid-19 in the home of Santa Casa has 93 infetados.


The Cuban Residential Structure for Elderly People registers 93 active cases, and 67 users and 26 employees of a total of 74 users and 43 officials.

The Cuban City Council (cc) disclosed in a statement that after a new testing of covid-19 carried out on the entire population of the home of the Santa Casa da MisericĂłrdia de Cuba (SCMC) revealed a strong increase in positive cases, more 60 positive cases, 45 users and 15 officials.

In total the Cuban registers 93 active cases, and 67 users and 26 employees of a total of 74 users and 43 officials. The outbreak was triggered at the beginning of the year following a positive result detected in an employee, having the 4 January the first tests revealed the existence of covid-19 in four employees and one user.

Last Thursday when infections in 22 users, the possibility was raised that they could be transferred to the Covid-19 Reception Center at the Air Base (BA) 11, in Beja, which ended up not happening after technicians from the Public Health Authority (UPS) the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA) have inspected the premises and given authorization to separate users.

When Lidador News (LN), Francisco Orelha, Provider of Santa Casa, justified that the institution “has gone through very complicated moments. From four cooks we had only one working. We have done everything to defend our users, but it’s not going to be easy ”concluded the former Mayor of Cuba.

To provide better safety conditions to its users, Santa Casa da MisericĂłrdia de Cuba is making improvements to the 1st floor of the Convento do Carmo building, improvements are being made to the bathrooms, on bedroom floors and thermo accumulators, aiming to increase the reception capacity, internment and quarantines.

This situation results from a protocol signed between Santa Casa and the City Council for the constitution of a Concentration Zone to Support the Population (ZCAP), available 48 beds to support the ERPI’s in Cuba and Vila Alva.

According to the latest data released by ULSBA and referring to the 24,00 Sunday, day 10 January, in Cuba municipality, There 154 active cases of covid-19, a total of 280 that have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic, counting on 122 recovered and 4 fatalities.

Yesterday the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), revealed that the Municipality of Cuba has a cumulative incidence of 1.197 cases, a 14 days for 100 thousand, no period 23 of the December 5 January, being considered an extremely high risk municipality.
