EDIA: “MY VILLAGE”, Exhibition at the Museum of Light.

The Museum of Light, located in the village of Luz, municipality of Mourão, inaugurated the temporary exhibition “My village” by Horácio Guerra from Luz, which is evident until 2 June.

In the year in which the twentieth anniversary of the new village of Luz is celebrated, this exhibition represents a commemorative tribute to the old village of Luz, resulting from a persistent and meticulous work by Horácio Guerra that, for years, gathered information from various sources until he began to create the basis on which he built an approximate scale model of 1/1000, as faithful as possible, of the old light.

With 5 meters long per 4 meters wide, the model integrates different materials such as wood, plaster, cork, card and is an opportunity to revisit the old village of Luz.

According to the author, or theme set, now on display at the Museum of Light, “results from a need to preserve and honor the memory and identity of the village” that saw him born.

“It was years of hard work., but also a great pleasure to leave a testimony for the new generations and for those who want to know what life was like in the old Luz”, said.

Horácio Guerra was born in old Luz and in professional terms he started out as a barber and later dedicated himself to the civil construction sector and commerce., among others. One Thousand and One Craftsman, is a self-taught man who in recent years has focused on completing a dream: your model of the old Luz.

Since the beginning, he has participated regularly in the maintenance and assembly of the exhibitions at the Museu da Luz..

The exhibition “My village” is on display at the Luz Museum until 2 June 2022. The Luz Museum is part of the Portuguese Museum Network and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
