EDIA: Company presents AgroSatAdapt Project aimed at three pilot areas.

The AgroSatAdapt Project proposes an integrated and innovative approach to maximize agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability.

The agricultural sector is a relevant part of the Portuguese economy, but increasing pressure on natural resources and climate change could lead to land degradation and loss of biodiversity, as well as reducing agricultural productivity.

It is in this context that the AgroSatAdapt project proposes an integrated and innovative approach to maximize agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability, through a software that allows a territorial management, with a focus on environmental sustainability - ecological aspects, climatic, water and socioeconomic.

This project, of which EDIA is a partner, has three pilot areas, with different management profiles, namely the Municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz, own areas and suppliers of Herdade do Esporão and areas within the irrigation perimeter of Alqueva managed by EDIA.

Your territorial organization, productive management and ecological potential are evaluated based on updated cartography and satellite data, essential for the characterization of landscape patterns and processes.

The AgroSatAdapt Project is coordinated by MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development of the University of Évora and financed by the Fundação “The box”.
