It is now available on the EDIA website, the characterization report of your clients in 2022.
With this report, EDIA intended to systematize and analyze all existing information on the Company's customers, in order to carry out a characterization of the same. this knowledge, will allow EDIA, within the scope of its activities, a better adaptation of your activity, especially in the area of ​​sustainability, either internally, both at the level of its stakeholders.
In its main conclusions, it can be seen that EDIA's customers, with regard to the supply of water resources, can be divided into 3 groups:
farmers, composed of the largest group of customers, either on an individual level, either as societies. They are generally called the “alqueva irrigatorsâ€. This group of farmers was created with the implementation of Alqueva, and the availability of water resources, which started, more consistently, after 2010. This group represented 2022 the largest volume of water consumed in Alqueva 390,388,989m3, what is 76 % do total.
Beneficiary Associations, pre-existing to the implementation of the Alqueva project, manage bordering hydro-agricultural developments. In some situations, as in the case of the Roxo and Odivelas Irrigation Perimeters, its implementation was carried out based on its connection to Alqueva. The volume consumed in 2022 it was 105.677.593 m3, representing about 20 % of the total distributed by Alqueva.
Companies of the Ãguas de Portugal Group, represent the priority consumption sectors. The volume consumed was 9.691.651 m3, or represents 4 % do total.
In terms of irrigated areas, the sum of the groups “farmers†and “Associations of Beneficiariesâ€, it was close to 151 hectares, while the public supply went to 13 Alentejo municipalities.
With this work, an integrated approach to the socioeconomic component of EFMA is achieved, which will allow, no future, characterize more reliably, the main stakeholders present at EFMA and who influence EDIA and/or are influenced by the Company's performance.
