It is available online, the Guide to Good Agro-Environmental Practices prepared by EDIA.
The Guide was prepared by EDIA as an entity that promotes and manages the Hydroagricultural Projects of the Multi-Purpose Development of Alqueva (EFMA), in partnership with the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development, (DGADR).
This is the contribution of the Alqueva project management company, disseminating best agricultural practices that guarantee sustainability, term, agricultural production and preservation of the territory's natural resources.
The Guide now launched, it also serves as a compilation of the main guidelines / obligations in the scope of agricultural activity, arising from the Environmental Impact Assessment procedures (AIA) of the EFMA Hydro-Agricultural Uses, current legislation or conditionality (support from the Common Agricultural Policy) that in many cases overlap.
The recommendations listed therein, although more comprehensive application, are particularly directed towards the reality of EFMA, namely, the irrigation agricultural practice, in the Alentejo region, given the cultural options currently practiced in the irrigation blocks benefited by the Alqueva dam reservoir.
This publication does not exempt you from consulting the applicable legislation, Environmental Impact Statements (DAY) and Regulations of the respective Hydroagricultural Projects.
With this initiative, EDIA reaffirms its commitment to promoting the Alqueva space as a sustainable region, supporting farmers and disseminating good practices associated with agricultural activity.
This Guide, with graphic design by Eco Sapiens, was developed within the scope of the CERNE project - Consolidating the Understanding between Irrigation and Nature at EFMA, project led by EDIA , in partnership with DGADR and financed by the Environmental Fund's Protect Earth Life Program â€.
The next day 22 January, the workshop “Good Agricultural Practices for the Management of Functional Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services will take place: To plan, To evaluate, Implement", where the Guide to Good Agro-Environmental Practices will be presented.
The main objective of this workshop, in addition to the presentation of the publication, is to analyze and discuss options for design and implementation of fundamental aspects of agricultural planning and management in order to improve ecological functionality, from the ground to the landscape, and thus ensure a more sustainable agroecological transition of the various productive models.
