EDIA: Recognition of the Noudar Nature Park.

Sustainable Forest Management Certificate (PEFC) of the Noudar Nature Park.

It was assigned to the Noudar Nature Park, PNN, property managed by EDIA, the certificate of Sustainable Forest Management, allowing from now on to be able to use the “PEFC” brand and seal in all its products.

“PEFC Portugal is a non-governmental association, non-profit, private initiative, which has as main objective, promote Sustainable Forest Management and its proof in the reference framework of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)".

It is part of the PEFC mission, “Institute the reference framework for supervision, control and review of the sustainable forest management certification system, as well as the necessary actions for its dissemination and application ”.

By adhering to this certification, a EDIA, through the PNN, similar to FSC certification, Forest Stewardship Council, that already holds, takes on the commitment and shares the common vision for an “effective management of the Portuguese Forest based on the pillars of environmental sustainability, economic and social development that promotes the recognition of the role of the forest and forest-based products in the sustainable development of society ”.

To achieve this goal, crucial was the work developed under the Life Montado Adapt project, a project to promote the adaptation of the Montados in Portugal and Spain, and of which EDIA is a partner.

The main objective of the project is to mitigate the consequences of climate change on these properties, improving their sustainability from an economic point of view, social and environmental, in this case at the Noudar Nature Park, an area of about one thousand hectares, where the main vegetation cover is the holm oak forest.
