Works in 451 schools free of charge for councils. Investment will be 1730 million euros in the next decade. Financing plan foresees that the Government will assume 67% and the rest comes from Brussels.
Municipal councils will not pay any money for the requalification of 451 schools that are in need of work as part of the skills decentralization process. The annual financing plan, known the day before yesterday, foresees an investment of 1730 million by 2033, and the Government ensures 67% and European funds pay the rest of the planned investment.
The works are intended only for schools whose management was transferred from the Ministry of Education to municipal councils, last year and which are degraded.
According to the News Journal (JN), of the list of twelve schools in the Beja district are on the list of establishments to be intervened, the first are Escola Básica e Secundária Dr.. John Brito Camacho, Almodôvar and Serpa Secondary School,
To list of 451 schools results from an agreement between the Government and municipalities and is divided into three categories of priorities: very urgent (32 schools), urgent (304) and priority (115).
Although the “very urgent” ones are those that need the most work, may not be the first to receive the intervention, as priority will be given to schools that already have a project prepared or in completion.
Twelve schools in the Beja district are on the list of establishments to be intervened.
Last day 23 July, the Lidador News (LN) had revealed that the program contract between the Government and Parque Escolar provides for the recovery of twelve establishments in the district of Beja, two being considered as P1-Very Urgent, nine as P2-Urgent and P3-Priority.
The contract is the result of a resolution by the Council of Ministers that had already approved an expenditure of around 297 million euros for the three-year period 2022-2024 intended for carrying out works in schools by the company Parque Escolar.

According to the resolution of the Council of Ministers, the maximum amount allocated under the program contract with Parque Escolar for the next three years totals 297.123.446 euros.
