(Exclusive) Covid 19: Vaccines bring ULSBA administrators, clinical director to trial.

The “Covid Vaccines Case” was born out of three allegations, two anonymous, at the Public Ministry and investigated by the Judiciary Police. The six defendants are responsible for their vaccines and/or those of ULSBA employees.

The six members of the Board of Directors of the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA), aged between 36 and 64 year old, They were charged by prosecutors (MP) de Beja and will be tried for the case of fraud in the vaccination process against covid-19.

To president (Conceição Margalha), the three vowels (Patricia Ataide, Iria Velez and Manuel Francisco Soares), the clinical director (Jose Anibal Soares) and the nurse director (Joaquim Brissos) ULSBA are accused of having co-authored a crime of abuse of power, for being included in the vaccination lists or for vaccinating several employees of the institution's administrative services.

According to the order of accusation from the MP of Beja that Lidador Notícias (LN) We had access, in response to a request from the Alentejo Regional Health Administration, created a level 3 on a priority map, destined to inoculate with the surplus of vaccines, where “in addition to the defendants, ULSBA employees were vaccinated in a number of no less than 1.592 without functions related to the direct provision of health care”.

The process was born out of three complaints, one of which, signed by a so-called group of “Citizens of Beja”, where in addition to those cases that will be judged, there are another five that after the investigation of inspectors from the Directorate of the South of the Judiciary Police (PJ) ended up archived by the MP.

In the case of complaints of abusive vaccinations by the vice-president of the Chamber of Beja, married to the president of the ULSBA, and the director of the Division of Intervention in Addictive Behaviors and Addictions (DICAD), the MP “did not collect sufficient evidence to verify the element of the objective and subjective type of the crime under analysis”. In the situation of the president and two other councilors of the majority of the Executive of the Municipality of Bejense, researchers assume that “their names are not on the list of vaccinated users”.

None of the defendants asked for the opening of the instruction of the case, happening that in the Local Criminal Court of the Court of Beja three sessions of the judgment are already scheduled, being that the first, intended to hear the defendants, It is scheduled for the next day 13 Feb..

defense defense

The lawyer for the six defendants begins by recalling that the case records refer to a period of time between 29 December 2020 and 29 and January 2021, arguing that “at the start of vaccination at ULSBA, there were no rules from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), the existing normative framework, to implement the vaccine against Covid-19, were just the guidelines of the Vaccination Plan and the guidelines to the DGS of 19 December 2020, not existing, yet, no guidance for leftover management, not indicating which procedure to follow after vaccination of groups considered to be very high priority”, the defense maintains that the MP's accusation is “totally unfounded, therefore, the acquittal of the defendants is required”, concludes.
