Beja is one of the three Municipalities of Alentejo, awarded the ECO XXI Green Flag 2020. The rest are Alandroal and Avis.
It was through a virtual public session that the delivery of the Green Flag ECO XXI Award took place, that distinguished three municipalities in the Alentejo, being them beja, Notice, Alandroal.
The ceremony was attended by Inês Costa, Secretary of State for the Environment, and Jorge Botelho, Secretary of State for Decentralization and Local Administration.
In 2020, They were presented 62 applications from all regions of the country, of which 56 were awarded the ECO XXI Green Flag.
This is a program implemented since 2005, by the European Blue Flag Association, which aims to recognize the best sustainability practices at the municipal level, through the evaluation, by a group of experts from 21 indicators and 71 sub indicators in the environmental areas, social and economic.
