Fª Alentejo: Works of 30,5 million euros in IP8 covers a section of 15 kilometers.

The requalification of the Main Itinerary 8 (IP8) between Santa Margarida do Sado and Ferreira do Alentejo, posted on Friday, covers a section of 15 kilometers and the construction of a bypass, revealed to Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).

In a statement, IP indicated that the contract consignment notice, which has an investment of 30,5 million, took place at the company's headquarters, Almada, no Setúbal district.

This step “marks the beginning” of this requalification work, which provides for the structural improvement of IP8, along a section of approximately 15 kilometers long, in Ferreira do Alentejo county, no Beja district, explained to Infraestruturas de Portugal.

The section in question runs from the end of the A26, in Santa Margarida do Sado and the municipal seat of Ferreira do Alentejo, after the roundabout with Estrada Regional 2 (ER2).

“Within the scope of the undertaking, a new variant will also be built at Figueira dos Cavaleiros, creating a more efficient and direct alternative to road circulation”, revealed the company.

This project is funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), indicated.

In 07 August, IP announced that it had contracted the IP8 Improvement between Ferreira do Alentejo and Beja, which includes a variant in Beringel, in Beja county.

This work, with 22,5 kilometers long, reaches a value of approximately 33,6 million, the company then stated, in a statement sent to the Lusa agency.

The project goes from Rotunda with ER2 in Ferreira do Alentejo and Rotunda with IP2 in Beja, with “the structural rehabilitation of the road”, including “the construction of a bypass to the town of Beringel, with 2,5 kilometers long”.

In the previous month, in 08 July, IP had announced the assignment of another project in IP8, this time to duplicate the lanes on a section between Sines and the A2, an investment 45 million, also financed by the PRR.
